| | Datum Systems currently produces
almost exclusively state of
the art variable rate
digital satellite modems. There are
3 series of modems supported: the PSM-500 just ramping up production, the
PSM-4900 being phased out of production and the older PSM-2100 series now well
out of production. Contact

New M500
Class Satellite Modems
-
- Our
next generation M500 Class
Modems including the PSM-500, PSM-500L
and later the PSM-500H
continue our leadership as the highest performance satellite modem manufactured. Lower cost, better performance and
smart features set these modems
apart as the best buy in
the industry. See the New
M500 Features provided by these modems.
This modem series is characterized by firmware upgrades and options. Each of
the IF options in the series is available in three versions or "feature sets", each optimized
for specific applications:
-
M505 is a direct replacement for the PSM-4900 with BPSK and
QPSK modulation and operation to 5 Mbps, but can be firmware upgraded to a M511
or M523.
-
M511 adds 8PSK/TCM and operation up to 10 Mbps, and can be
firmware upgraded to a M523.
-
M523 adds 16QAM and 16APSK modulation and operation up to 20
Mbps.
-
PSM-500
70 MHz IF VSAT/SCPC Satellite Modem
-
The first of the M500 series to be released (scheduled
late February, 2006) This modem can satisfy all of your 70 MHz IF needs at
the lowest cost. The M505 feature set is ideal as a replacement for the PSM-4900, but
can be software upgraded to meet emerging requirements for years to come.
The Reed-Solomon, Multiplexer with AUPC and remote modem control are now
built into this series.Software upgradeable
to higher data rates and modulation modes. Sophisticated FEC options are
available now (TPC) with more to come in the near future.
-
The PSM-500 does more of
everything our modems are famous for, including higher data rates, faster DSP signal
acquisition (315msec at 9.6kbps QPSK), more features (like built-in BERT and
1:1 redundancy)
and at an amazing lower cost than any modem we've produced.
Also available with a 140 MHz IF on request.
-
PSM-500L L-Band Transmit and
Receive IF VSAT/SCPC Satellite Modem
-
This modem
is compatible with all of the M5 and M500 modems, but with a full L-Band
transmit covering 950 to 1750
MHz and receive IF covering 950 to 1900 MHz.
Both the transmit and
receive can be programmed to provide power and 10 MHz reference to the
BUC and LNB on the IF cables. Standard
with this modem is a 96 Watt 24 Vdc BUC power supply and a 1 part in 10-8
high
stability 10 MHz OCXO reference. The BUC power
supply plugs into the rear panel and can be changed for differing BUC
requirements. This is the ideal low cost VSAT terminal modem
meeting current and future needs.
-
- M5
Class - PSM-4900 Satellite Modems (now
out of production)
-
- Our
very popular M5 Class Modems including the PSM-4900,
PSM-4900H and PSM-4900L are unmatched
by any other satellite modem manufactured. This modem series
has been serving the industry for 4 years and are now being transitioned to
the new PSM-500 series shown above. The PSM-4900 series have proven themselves
as reliable top performers.
-
PSM-4900
70 MHz IF VSAT/SCPC Satellite Modem
(see the PSM-500 above for all new applications)
-
A mainstay in the industry. 1.2 kbps (BPSK
rate 1/2) to 4.92 Mbps (QPSK rate 3/4or 7/8) variable data rate, 70 MHz IF
programmable satellite modem. Also available with a 140 MHz IF.
-
PSM-4900H 70 MHz Transmit / L-Band Receive IF VSAT/SCPC Satellite Modem
-
The same industry leading
capabilities as the standard PSM-4900, but with an L-Band receive IF
covering 950 to 1900 MHz. The receive can be programmed to provide power and
10 MHz reference to the LNB on the IF cable. The transmit IF is at 70 MHz
like the standard PSM-4900. This modem allows you to
build low cost single or multi-modem VSAT terminals.
-
PSM-4900L L-Band Transmit and
Receive IF VSAT/SCPC Satellite Modem
-
This modem
is compatible with the standard PSM-4900 and
PSM-4900H, but with a full L-Band
transmit covering 950 to 1750
MHz and receive IF covering 950 to 1900 MHz.
Both the transmit and
receive can be programmed to provide power and 10 MHz reference to the
BUC and LNB on the IF cables. Standard
with this modem is a 72 or 96 Watt 24 Vdc BUC power supply and a 1 part in 10-7
stability 10 MHz OCXO reference. The BUC power
supply plugs into the rear panel and can be changed for differing BUC
requirements. This is our latest low cost VSAT terminal modem.
